Highlights of our 2007-2009 IP Contract

VICTORY! MILLIONS MORE HOURS FOR LIVE-IN CAREGIVERS

• Starting September 1, 2007, the state is restoring thousands of hours to clients whose hours were unfairly cut due to the “shared living rule.”
• Your paid hours may increase if you are a live-in caregiver who lost hours for meal preparation or laundry. Paid hours will also increase for IP providers whose clients have serious behavioral problems. The Union also continues to be a part of the lawsuit against DSHS to repeal the “shared living rule.”

MILEAGE PAY -- AT LEAST 48 CENTS/MILE

For the first time, starting on July 1, 2008, workers will receive mileage pay for work-related driving, up to 60 miles per client per month at the IRS rate.

BETTER HEALTH BENEFITS-FOR NO ADDITIONAL COST

Workers who work at least 86 hours a month will get better health benefits at no additional cost over the next 2 years. This is a huge win at a time when most workers are paying more for worse heath coverage.

Workers will earn paid vacation time at the increased rate of one paid hour for every forty hours worked.
