Providence Mount St. Vincent Contract 08-11

SEIU Healthcare 775NW caregivers and Providence Mount St. Vincent have approved a new union contract, with raises, good healthcare benefits and a labor-management committee to help solve facility issues.

Some of the highlights include:

Better Wages!
We won across-the-board raises of 3%, effective the first full pay period following ratification in 2008. The same raises will occur again in March 2009 and then again in March 2010.

Improved Wage Scale!
In addition to yearly raises and seniority increases, housekeepers, laundry aides, recreational therapists and LPNs have been moved into higher pay grade categories. This means that the percentage raises in 2008 for these workers will be even greater – in the double digits for some individuals! Please refer to Appendix A of the contract for specific rates.

New Member Experience
Changes have been made to the contract to allow more workers to participate in their union. Workers will now have the opportunity to act in a number of new roles to help build our organization and make the Mount an even better place to work. New roles will include advocates, greeters, recruiters, member political organizers and many more! For more information on these roles, contact the Member Service Center at the number below.

Employer Contributions to Health Care!
Providence provides medical, dental and other benefits to eligible employees. Coverage now begins the first of the month following date of hire. Providence will be increasing contributions in 2009 for dependent coverage, which will make it easier to insure our children. Providence will also be increasing premium contributions for many part-time workers (those that are .75FTE or greater) in 2009.

Labor-Management Committee
Union members and management representatives will be coming together regularly to discuss important issues in the facility and look for mutually beneficial ways to solve problems.
