VCCC Contract
SEIU Healthcare 775NW caregivers and Vashon Community Care Center have approved our union contract, with raises, increased shift differentials and a labor-management committee to help solve facility issues.
Some of the highlights include:
Better Wages!
We won raises of $0.25 to $1.49 for all employees depending on job class. These raises are effective June 1, 2008. In addition, workers will receive 3% raises again on June 1, 2009, and June 1, 2010.
Guaranteed Wage Scale!
We have a scale that sets wage rates based on experience. The scale set rate increases on employees’ anniversary dates every year for years 1 through 15 at Vashon and again at year 20 and year 25. Rates vary by job classification – please refer to Appendix A of the contract for specific scale rates.
This wage scale will help improve recruitment and retention of workers and quality care for our residents.
Shift Differentials
Workers that work evening shifts now shall receive a $0.50/hour differential on top of their regular pay, an increase of $0.25/hour over the previous rate!. Workers that work night shifts will continue to receive a $0.50/hour differential on top of their regular pay. In addition, all workers working weekend shifts now will receive a $0.50/hour differential on top of their regular pay, an increase of $0.25/hour over the previous rate!.
Employer-Paid Health Care!
Vashon pays 94.8% of the premium costs for employee-only health care (medical, dental, vision and prescription drug) for all eligible employees. They also offer life insurance.
Possible Wage Reopener Negotiations!
Our contract allows for a wage reopener to go back to the table to negotiate wage increases if we win new Medicaid funding from the Legislature.
Mentor and Preceptor Pay
The mentor and preceptor job descriptions are now fully defined in the contract and will such workers will receive premium pay for those assignments.
